History beyond dates and events
History is more than a collection of dates and events. Behind every historical turning point lies a story of people, decisions, and cultural transformations that continue to shape how we understand Vietnam today.
I founded The Imperial Heritage Lab to explore how historical research and visual storytelling could work together to make Vietnam's Nguyễn Dynasty heritage more accessible to younger generations.
Visual History
One of our key initiatives was “Visual History,” a campaign that transformed Emperor Bảo Đại's 1945 abdication into infographic-based study materials. By translating historical events into visual timelines and accessible educational content, we brought this important chapter of Vietnamese history to more than 300 grade-12 students at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted.
Research rooted in place
Beyond digital storytelling, I led a field survey in Huế to collect historical materials on Nguyễn Dynasty court attire and cultural traditions for the club's archive. This experience allowed me to connect historical research with the places and cultural objects that preserve its legacy.
Together, these initiatives shaped my belief that history becomes more meaningful when people can explore it through both evidence and visual narratives. They also laid the groundwork for my later work with Dai Viet Phong Lien, where historical research evolved into cultural exhibitions, fashion communication, and contemporary design.
